Hip-Hop artist, Drake has announced a string of tour dates in the U.S. and Europe, taking place in clubs near colleges starting February 14th in Miami. Drake tickets are available for the “Club Paradise Tour” and will be starting in Florida and ending in California with a total of 17 shows. When asked about why he chose to embark on a club tour instead of an arena tour he stated, "I just like the energy," he told MTV News. "I like people to feel close to me because at the end of the day, I'm still at the beginning of my career so, watching me from the 500 level of an arena, I don't know if I'm mentally there yet. I don't know if I can mentally accept that." Drake said of the tour, "I fought for this tour, I fought really hard for this tour because, of course, they want me to go get the big bucks, go into the stadiums and cash out. But I was just like, I really made this album for the same people that supported me since day one." Drake will also be joined by newcomers Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky." I spent a lot of time out there [in Toronto]; that's what this album is about. That's what I'm gonna showcase. It's the same thing with the tour: I wanna bring Kendrick, I wanna bring A$AP, those are guys that I love. It has nothing to do with people on my label.”
Drake was born in Toronto, Ontario and was originally known for playing Jimmy Brooks on the television series Degrassi: The Next Generation. He eventually signed a recording contract with Young Money Entertainment in June 2009, a recording company owned by rapper, Lil Wayne. “The first thing I said was this kid’s a superstar,” Lil Wayne told MTV News about his introduction to Drake. “I don’t think you can remember, but I did some interviews back then when they were asking me about him and I said he’s better than me. I can’t sing. I can make a song, but this kid has the actual R&B presence.” Drake has also collaborated with a number of other artists from Young Money Entertainment including Lil Wayne and T-Pain. Drake has also won several two Juno Awards in 2010 for Best New Artist, and Rap Recording of the Year. In addition to the tour, next year Drake and Rick Ross will be releasing their Y.O.L.O. (You Only Live Once) mixtape.
Drake's most recent album Take Care, was released in November, a follow up to his first album released in 2010 entitled Thank Me Later, selling 447,000 copies in its first week, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Along with the release of his new album and tour dates, Drake will be staying busy while he works on Justin Bieber’s upcoming album “Believe” and will also be appearing on “NBC’S New Years Eve With Carson Daly.” For more information about the “Club Paradise Tour” and other opportunities to see Drake in concert, check out our selection of Drake tickets!
