Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, who acquired the name Sting, from a striped sweater resembling a bee, is now sixty, but the singer/songwriter is still going strong.  Sting began his musical career with the legendary rock group The Police, as the lead bass guitarist, and with songs like “Roxanne”, that is still being played today.  In 1982, Sting went solo, making his first chart-topping song “Every Breath You Take”, while also making his debut in a film, in “Brimstone and Treacle, and writing a score for the film “Spread a Little Happiness”.

As a solo artist, “The Dream of the Blue Turtles” was his first album in 1985.  On this premiere album, Sting worked with Bradford Marsalis, and several other jazz musicians.  His solo albums reflect a diversity of music, from ballads, to instrumentals, to pop songs.  He has been on many personal music explorations, experimenting with various types of music, while learning their histories.  Whether he is accompanied by an orchestra, or sings, a cappella  you can hear his passion for music.  He is now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Sting recorded his most popular solo album “Brand New Day” in 1999, and was named Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, receiving a Grammy Award in 2000.  Sting is very active in social and human rights issues and awareness.  His concerts are as good as ever, full of music and passion that he feels in his music.  Sting Concert Tickets are available for his United States and Canada tour now, and his newest album “Sting:  The Best of 25 Years” is in stores today.
