Major League Baseball is the top level of professional baseball in the United States and Canada and is one of the major pro sports leagues in North America.  It’s made of 29 United States teams and one Canadian team for a total of 30 competing for the World Series title. The League is governed by Major League Baseball Constitution and is led by the Commissioner of Baseball after merging into a single legal entity in 2000.

Major League Baseball is made up of the American League and the National League with 14 teams and 16 teams, respectively.  Then, each division is broken down further into the East, Central and West subdivisions.  Since 1997, there has been regular-season inter-league play but previously, the leagues met only at the World Series and All Star games.
