A new team will hit the court in the 2012-2013 season.  Well known rapper Jay-Z announced the new team’s name, the Brooklyn Nets, on September 26, 2011. This is a much anticipated team, and the Brooklyn Nets tickets are even on sale, so if you’re going to be in the area you should pick up a couple for you and a friend!

The Nets are keeping their nickname when the franchise makes its move from New Jersey to New York at the Barclays Center of Brooklyn for the 2012-2013 season.  The Nets are going to be the only major professional sports team in Brooklyn since the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles in 1957.

The Barclays Center of Brooklyn was designed by architectural firms Ellerbe Becket and SHoP Architects. The Barclays Center will offer nearly 18,000 seats for basketball and up to 19,000 seats for concerts, and will also have one hundred luxury suites. This is meant to be something significant for Brooklyn, and be some competition for Madison Square Garden.

The architects wanted to design the inside of Barclays Center to bring the energy of the Brooklyn street life into the arena. The home of the Nets gives the fans an urban experience. The arena is built at the intersection of Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues..

Like most things in New York, the Nets are expected to be among the National Basketball Association’s highest in their inaugural season in Brooklyn and be almost what the Knicks will charge at Madison Square Garden. The arena is expected to open a few months before the Nets play their first games next in their new home in October 2012. Tickets are on sale now in Brooklyn! 4,000 All-Access premium seats offered at the rapidly rising, 18,000 seat Barclays Center in Prospect Heights, will run for $99 a game. It will only cost you $1500 to see the Brooklyn Nets courtside.
