NCAA Basketball is divided into three divisions (I, II and III), broken down further into conferences. Historically, the NBA was only able to draft players after they had graduated from college but more recently, NCAA basketball players have felt as though they were bringing a lot of attention and revenue to their colleges without receiving any pay, or much of an education. To rectify this, there have been a number of legal battles and regulation changes surrounding NBA basketball and NCAA basketball, which have ultimately resulted in two significant rules. First, NBA draftees must be at least 19 years of age and second, they must be at least one year removed from high school. These regulations have been in place since 2006, leading to fewer and fewer non-college athletes being drafted.
