NCAA Football – Oklahoma State Cowboys This NCAA team is part of the Big 12 Conferences Southern Division, a Division I Bowl Subdivision. Mike Grundy, current Head Coach, has a 44-28-0 record (0.611) and the team has an all-time record of 517-520-47 (0.499). The Cowboys play on Lewis Field in Boone Pickens Statdium in Stillwater, OK. The field was built in 1913 but in 1920 was repositioned to an east-west alignment to avoid the strong north-west winds and finally got permanent seating. Lewis Field is still the only major college football stadium with an east-west arrangement. This Oklahoma team started its career as the Oklahoma A&M Aggies but became the Oklahoma State University Cowboys in 1957 before joining the then Big Eight Conference in 1958. These eight schools eventually joined with four schools from the previous Southwest Conference to create the Big 12 Conference, where they currently play. Current Head Coach Mike Grundy played for the Cowboys during his college career, during the school’s most successful football era. In 1988 Grundy helped the team earn the title of “greatest season in college football history.” Alongside Barry Sanders, Grundy and the team set numerous records and Sanders won the Heisman Trophy as the season’s top player. Shortly thereafter, the Cowboys fell from their reign as the results of an investigation revealed misconduct involving a bidding war. This earned them four years of probation, three years of bowl ban and two years of live television ban. The period of 1989-2001 was a rough one for the Cowboys but the team regained their success starting with former coach Les Miles (2001-2004) and current coach Grundy. The team has had their share of trials and tribulations so show your support for their current success and purchase cheap 2011 Oklahoma State Cowboys football tickets from Dolly’s Tickets. With the NFL Lockout creating such uncertainty, take solace in the strong NCAA football program.
