NFL Football – About the Baltimore Ravens This professional football team is a member for the North Division of the American Football Conference and is headquartered in Owings Mills, Maryland. The Team plays in Baltimore, Maryland (in M&T Band Stadium) and go its name from long-time Baltimore resident Edgar Allen Poe’s poem, “The Raven.” The Ravens have an interesting history as a franchise, having expanded out of the Cleveland Browns relocation in 1995. The then Browns owner Art Modell moved the team from Ohio to Maryland and started as the Raven’s in the 1996 season after getting its name from a fan contest. They are one of just four teams to win their only Super Bowl appearance. Not all players and staff made the move, however, creating some challenges for the team. Ultimately, Ted Marchibroda was hired as the head coach, former Browns’ titght end Ozzie Newsome because director of football of operations and the team drafted several new players. Today’s owner is Steve Bisciotti and President is Dick Cass. Ozzie Newsome was promoted to General Manager and John Harbaugh serves as head coach. |
