NFL Football – About the Oakland Raiders This California team got its start after an unnamed Minneapolis team failed to reach final agreements with the AFL. The Raiders picked up the crumbling team’s roster and settled in Oakland in 1960 and merged with the NFL in 1970 when the two leagues officially came together. The temporarily Raiders relocated to Los Angeles for 12 years (1982-1994) before returning to their roots in Oakland in 1995 where they remain today. Unfortunately, this team of inherited players had a rough start with struggles on and off the field during the first three seasons. Then, the Raiders go ahold of Al Davis in 1963 as the general manager and coach. The team had only seven losing season from 1963 to 2002 with Davis and a plethora of other coaches. Moreover, the Oakland Raiders have won three Super Bowls (but have played in four) and since 1970, they’ve won twelve division titles and one conference title. Thirteen former Raiders earned their way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The team has a successful history and has produced many great players over the years.
