Broadway Shows - About Mary Poppins New York There are troubles at Number 17, Cherry Lane in London. The Banks family is experiencing issues with two children who do not behave, and the parents are feeling under appreciated. George and Winifred Banks decide to hire a nanny for their children, and since George had a nanny himself, he has a good idea of what he wants in a nanny. The children have differing views however, and write an advertisement for the paper, which George discards. Shortly after the newly hired nanny storms out, Mary Poppins appears, to become the new nanny. In the park, Mary introduces Michael and Jane to Bert, who is rather dirty and in rags. She teaches the children to look beyond appearances by turning the statues into life, showing them that things are not often as they might appear. In the meantime, Mr. Banks feels as though he has ruined the bank where he works, and Winifred feels as though she is a failure to George. The children begin misbehaving again, and Mary decides to leave, but leaves a note saying that she might be back. The children race to find Bert in the park, and Mary returns. George soon finds that he has made the bank a fortune, Winifred realizes her worth, and the children are using their manners. Realizing this is a reunited, and happy family again, Mary realizes that her task is finished, and she literally flies off into the audience. The moral is indicated in the song title “Anything Can Happen If You Let It”. While the Broadway show may differ from the Disney movie a bit, the elaborate sets and light displays make this performance exhilarating and fun. New York Mary Poppins Tickets are a must for the entire family, and the New Amsterdam Theatre is quite something to see in itself. It is a show that will make you feel good, and possibly inspire you to look at things in a more positive way, even if it lasts only a short time. |
