Broadway Shows - About the Trans-Siberian Orchestra The setting is Vienna in the Spring of 1827. Ludwig Von Beethoven is at his piano, completing his Tenth Symphony when a beautiful spirit, Fate, and her son Twist appear. They tell Beethoven that this is his last night on earth. Mephistopheles, Lord of Darkness then appears to collect his soul, and to find out what Beethoven needs to add or change to complete his symphony. The Devil then enters, making a deal that if Beethoven gives him all of his music, and allows him to wipe the music out of man's memory, he will return his soul. Beethoven reviews his life and the Devil's deal. Removing the most painful memories, and the sins that he has committed, would entail removing the work that he is most proud of. He signs the contract without reading it, and Mephistopheles burns the Tenth Symphony with the piano candle flame. In amazement to all, the manuscript did not burn, and was not even singed. Twist announces that Beethoven's parents had two children. The first Ludwig Von Beethoven died soon after birth, and that the contract named him, not the Beethoven who wrote the Tenth Symphony. Twist had tricked the Devil, and saved the Beethoven's symphony. Fate tells the relieved Beethoven to sleep, and dream of paradise. While he is sleeping, Fate's son Twist appears, takes the Tenth Symphony from the piano, and hides it in a wall, to be discovered in the future. This is definitely a “twist of fate” that all music lovers should appreciate. Beginning November 11, 2011, Trans-Siberian Tickets can be purchased for shows in cities all over the United States. The show that TSO performs is always something special. |
