Broadway Shows - About West Side Story The West Side Story revolves around the story of a modern-day Romeo and Juliet who have found love in the middle of a battle between two rivaling groups. Tony, who is part of the New York gang called Jets, falls in love with Maria, the sister of the Sharks leader, which is a gang of Puerto Ricans who are claiming the turf that the Jets are also claiming as theirs. When both gangs learn about the romance starting to grow between the two, the battle gets worse. Although Tony and Maria are being prevented from seeing each other and pursuing the feelings they have for each other, the two starry-eyed lovers just can not keep their hearts mum. This unstoppable love affair leads to a bloody battle where the lovers both lose their lives. This story has been told in motion pictures but the surround systems in cinemas is nothing compared to the heart-pounding thrill that comes from live bass drums and an orchestra. Make sure to bring enough tissues to wipe off those tears of sadness and joy as each scene is told with songs accompanied by powerful dancing and dramatic light effects.
